Here’s a simple and delicious Wonton Soup recipe — perfect for a quick comfort meal at home. You can use store-bought or homemade wontons!

🥟 Easy Wonton Soup Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Broth:

  • 4 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)

  • 1–2 cups water (to taste)

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced or grated

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional: sliced green onions, mushrooms, or bok choy

For the Wontons:

  • ~12 frozen or homemade wontons (pork, chicken, shrimp — your choice)

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Make the Broth:

    • In a pot, heat a bit of oil.

    • Sauté garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.

    • Add chicken broth, water, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

    • Simmer for 5–10 minutes to infuse flavor.

  2. Cook the Wontons:

    • If using frozen wontons: Add them directly to the simmering broth and cook for 4–6 minutes, or until they float and are fully cooked.

    • If boiling separately: Boil in another pot for 4–6 minutes, then transfer to bowls before ladling soup over.

  3. Add Veggies (Optional):

    • Add chopped bok choy, spinach, or mushrooms in the last 2–3 minutes of simmering.

  4. Serve:

    • Ladle soup and wontons into bowls.

    • Garnish with green onions, chili oil, or a squeeze of lime.

📝 Notes:

  • Wontons: You can use frozen from the store, or I can give you a homemade wonton filling recipe if you’re feeling ambitious.

  • Broth flavor: Taste and adjust soy sauce, salt, or add a splash of rice vinegar for more depth.
