Here’s a classic Sweet Potato Pie recipe — smooth, creamy, warmly spiced, and perfect for holidays or everyday dessert. 🥧🍠


🥧 Sweet Potato Pie

🧾 Ingredients (1 standard 9-inch pie)

For the filling:

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2 medium sweet potatoes)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • ¾ cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • ½ cup evaporated milk (or regular milk/heavy cream)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • Optional: ¼ tsp ground ginger or allspice for extra warmth

For the crust:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell (store-bought or homemade)


🔥 Instructions

1. Prepare the sweet potatoes:

  • Peel, cube, and boil sweet potatoes until soft (about 15 minutes), or bake them whole at 400°F (200°C) for 45–50 minutes.

  • Mash until smooth — no lumps! (Use a blender or hand mixer for a silky texture.)

2. Make the filling:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes and softened butter. Mix until smooth.

  3. Add sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and any extra spices.

  4. Mix until well combined and creamy.

3. Assemble and bake:

  1. Pour the filling into the pie shell.

  2. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  3. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is just set and slightly puffed.

    • (A toothpick should come out clean or with moist crumbs.)

  4. Let cool completely before slicing.


🧁 Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream or marshmallow fluff

  • Toasted pecans or chopped candied ginger

  • A drizzle of maple syrup


🌟 Tips

  • For extra depth, use roasted sweet potatoes instead of boiled.

  • Can be made a day in advance — refrigerates well!

  • To avoid cracks: don’t overbake, and cool gradually at room temp.
