Sweet Milk Fudge Squares

Posted on April 28, 2025
Sweet Milk Fudge Squares (often similar to leche quemada or a simplified milk peda) are a rich, creamy treat made primarily from sweetened condensed milk and sugar. They’re soft, dense, and melt in your mouth — and best of all, you only need a few ingredients.

Here’s a simple and classic version:

Sweet Milk Fudge Squares (Condensed Milk Fudge)

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

  • 2 cups powdered milk (dry milk powder)

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • A pinch of salt

  • Optional: chopped nuts (e.g. pecans or walnuts), cardamom, or cinnamon for flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your pan:

    • Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. Melt butter and mix:

    • In a nonstick pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.

    • Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and sugar until fully dissolved.

  3. Add milk powder:

    • Slowly add powdered milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.

    • Keep mixing until smooth and thick — about 6–8 minutes. The mixture will pull away from the sides as it cooks.

  4. Flavor and finish:

    • Stir in vanilla, salt, and any optional spices or nuts.

    • Remove from heat and spread the mixture evenly into your prepared pan.

  5. Cool and cut:

    • Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.

    • Cut into squares and serve.

These store well in the fridge for up to a week, or can be frozen for longer.

Would you like a version made without powdered milk, or with a more traditional caramelized flavor like leche quemada?
