Super Creamy Apple Pie

Posted on July 10, 2025

Here’s a dreamy recipe for a Super Creamy Apple Pie — like a cozy cross between classic apple pie and apple custard. It’s rich, smooth, and just the right amount of sweet, with tender apples baked in a luscious cream filling. A perfect twist on a traditional favorite!

🥧🍎 Super Creamy Apple Pie

🕒 Total Time: ~1 hr 30 min (includes baking & cooling)

Serves: 8

🧂 Ingredients:

For the Pie:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

  • 4–5 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great), peeled & sliced thin

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (to keep apples from browning)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp flour (to help thicken juices)

For the Creamy Custard Filling:

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • Pinch of salt

🔪 Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Place a baking sheet on the rack to catch drips.

2. Prep the Apples:

  • Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Let sit 10–15 minutes.

3. Assemble the Pie:

  • Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and flute the edges.

  • Layer the seasoned apples evenly in the crust.

4. Make the Custard:

  • In a bowl, whisk together cream, egg, vanilla, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.

  • Pour the custard mixture slowly over the apples (it won’t cover them completely — that’s OK).

5. Bake:

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is golden.

  • If the crust browns too quickly, cover the edges with foil halfway through.

6. Cool:

  • Let the pie cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour to fully set before slicing.

🧁 Serving Ideas:

  • Serve warm or chilled with:

    • A scoop of vanilla ice cream

    • Fresh whipped cream

    • A drizzle of caramel sauce

🔁 Variations:

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.

  • Swap cream for sweetened condensed milk for an even richer version.

  • Add cream cheese to the custard for a cheesecake-like texture (just ask if you want that version!).
