Supangle Recipe

Supangle is a delicious Turkish chocolate dessert that is creamy, rich, and decadent! It’s often made in layers with a chocolate pudding base and a layer of whipped cream or a custard topping. It’s very similar to chocolate mousse or pudding, but with a bit more texture and creaminess. Here’s a classic Supangle recipe for you!

Supangle (Turkish Chocolate Dessert)

Ingredients:

For the pudding:

  • 4 cups (1 liter) whole milk
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 oz (85g) dark chocolate or milk chocolate (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the topping:

  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chocolate pudding:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch. Whisk everything together until smooth and there are no lumps.
    • Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil (this should take about 5-7 minutes).
    • Once it thickens to a pudding-like consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in the chopped chocolate and butter. Continue to stir until the chocolate and butter are fully melted and the pudding is smooth.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  2. Chill the pudding:

    • Pour the pudding into individual serving glasses or bowls (you can also use a large dish if you prefer to serve it family-style).
    • Let it cool at room temperature for a bit, then cover each bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours, or overnight if possible, until it’s fully set.
  3. Whip the cream topping:

    • In a chilled bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar (if using) until soft peaks form.
    • If you want extra sweetness, you can adjust the powdered sugar amount to taste.
  4. Assemble the dessert:

    • Once the pudding has set, spoon a generous layer of whipped cream over the top of each serving.
    • Garnish with chocolate shavings, a dusting of cocoa powder, or even a few fresh berries if you like!
  5. Serve and enjoy!

    • Serve chilled and enjoy the creamy, rich flavors of Supangle!
