Strawberry Dumplings:

Strawberry Dumplings are a sweet, juicy dessert wrapped in a soft dough and served with a delicious syrup. They’re perfect for a special treat or a comforting dessert. Here’s a simple recipe to make these delightful strawberry-filled dumplings:

Strawberry Dumplings

Ingredients:

For the Dumplings:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and cut in half

For the Strawberry Syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the syrup:
    In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Once the sugar has dissolved, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir in the vanilla extract, then remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Make the dumpling dough:
    In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate small bowl, beat together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough should be soft but not too sticky.
  3. Stuff the dumplings:
    Take a spoonful of dough and flatten it slightly in your hand. Place half of a strawberry in the center, then wrap the dough around the strawberry, pinching the edges together to seal it. Repeat with the remaining dough and strawberries.
  4. Cook the dumplings:
    In a large skillet, bring the prepared strawberry syrup to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Carefully drop the dumplings into the simmering syrup, making sure they’re not crowded in the pan. Cover the skillet and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, flipping the dumplings halfway through, until they are puffed up and cooked through.
  5. Serve:
    Carefully remove the dumplings from the syrup and place them on serving plates. Spoon some of the syrup over the dumplings and serve warm.
