Smoked Chicken Wings

Here’s a delicious recipe for Smoked Chicken Wings — juicy, smoky, and perfectly crispy on the outside!


🍗 Smoked Chicken Wings

🍽️ Servings: 4

⏱️ Time: About 2–3 hours (including smoking)


🧂 Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp kosher salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper for heat

  • Your favorite BBQ sauce or wing sauce (optional, for tossing)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep the Wings

  • Pat wings dry with paper towels to remove moisture (helps crisp skin).

  • Toss wings with olive oil.

2. Season

  • Mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne (if using).

  • Sprinkle seasoning evenly over wings and rub to coat well.

3. Preheat Smoker

  • Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

  • Add your preferred wood chips (hickory, apple, or cherry work great).

4. Smoke the Wings

  • Place wings directly on smoker racks, leaving space between pieces.

  • Smoke for about 1.5 to 2 hours until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and skin is firm.

5. Crisp the Skin (Optional)

  • To get extra crispy skin, transfer wings to a hot grill or broiler for 3–5 minutes per side, watching closely.

6. Toss & Serve

  • Toss smoked wings in your favorite BBQ or wing sauce if desired.

  • Serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.


✅ Tips:

  • For even crispier wings, dry brine the wings by seasoning and refrigerating uncovered overnight.

  • If you don’t have a smoker, you can mimic flavor by using a grill with wood chips or finishing wings in a smoker box on your grill.

  • Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness and safety.
