Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti

Posted on July 30, 2025

Hereโ€™s a hearty, family-style Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti โ€” the kind that’s easy to make in bulk, feeds a crowd, and tastes like something Grandma brought to the potluck.

๐Ÿ Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti

๐Ÿฒ Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (or 1 lb beef + 0.5 lb Italian sausage for more flavor)

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 (24 oz) jars spaghetti sauce (or 1 large 45 oz jar)

  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained

  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, balances acidity)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 12 oz spaghetti noodles, broken in half

  • 3 cups water (or use low-sodium beef broth for added flavor)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (optional)

  • Grated Parmesan, for serving

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ Instructions:

1. Brown the Meat

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef (and sausage, if using) with the onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.

2. Build the Sauce in the Crockpot

  • Add the cooked meat to the slow cooker.

  • Stir in spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper.

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 4โ€“5 hours (or HIGH for 2โ€“3 hours).

3. Add the Noodles

  • Stir in broken spaghetti noodles and 3 cups water.

  • Push noodles down into the sauce so theyโ€™re covered.

  • Cook on HIGH for 30โ€“45 minutes, stirring once or twice to keep noodles from sticking.

4. Optional Cheese Finish

  • In the last 10 minutes, sprinkle mozzarella on top. Cover and let melt.

5. Serve It Up

  • Serve with Parmesan, garlic bread, and maybe a church ladyโ€™s salad.

๐Ÿ™Œ Tips for Potluck Perfection:

  • Use slow cooker liners for easy cleanup.

  • Double the recipe in a 7- or 8-quart slow cooker.

  • You can make the meat sauce a day ahead and refrigerate, then add noodles and water day-of.
