Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese – flaky, golden pastry filled with flavorful meat and melted cheese. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or main dish with a salad.


🥐 Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese

🕒 Cook Time: 20–25 mins
🍽 Serves: 4–6


✅ Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or lamb/turkey)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp ground cumin (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ cup chopped parsley or cilantro (optional)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional topping)


🍳 Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Filling

    • Heat oil in a pan. Add onion and sauté until soft (about 3–4 min).

    • Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

    • Add ground meat, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

    • Season with paprika, cumin (if using), salt, and pepper.

    • Stir in chopped herbs (if using). Let the mixture cool slightly.

    • Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheese.

  3. Assemble Pastries

    • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

    • Cut into squares or rectangles (about 4″ each).

    • Place a spoonful of meat mixture in the center of each square.

    • Fold over into triangles or rectangles and press edges with a fork to seal.

  4. Bake

    • Brush each pastry with beaten egg.

    • Sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds if desired.

    • Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

  5. Serve
    Let cool slightly. Serve warm with yogurt sauce, sour cream, or a side salad.


🔄 Optional Variations:

  • Add a spoonful of tomato paste or chili flakes for extra flavor

  • Mix in spinach or peas for a veggie boost

  • Use puff pastry cups or muffin tins for a fun shape
