🎄 Praline Christmas Bark
Ingredients:
-
1 sleeve (about 40) saltine crackers (or graham crackers for a twist)
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
-
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
-
1½ cups pecans, roughly chopped
-
½ tsp vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
-
Optional topping: melted chocolate, sea salt, red/green sprinkles
Instructions:
1. Prep:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Line a rimmed baking sheet (10×15″) with parchment paper or foil, and spray lightly with nonstick spray.
2. Arrange Crackers:
-
Lay crackers in a single layer to cover the pan completely. You may need to break a few to fit.
3. Make Praline Topping:
-
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together.
-
Bring to a gentle boil and let simmer for 3 minutes, stirring often.
-
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and chopped pecans.
4. Pour & Bake:
-
Carefully pour the hot praline mixture over the crackers.
-
Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
-
Bake in preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
5. Cool & Finish:
-
Optional: While still warm, drizzle with melted chocolate or top with holiday sprinkles.
-
Allow to cool completely — either at room temp or refrigerate to speed it up.
-
Once firm, break into pieces.
Storage:
-
Store in an airtight container at room temp for up to 1 week, or freeze for longer shelf life.
Flavor Variations:
-
Swap pecans for almonds, walnuts, or cashews
-
Use dark brown sugar for deeper molasses flavor
-
Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a holiday spice twist
-
For extra richness, add a white or dark chocolate layer after baking
