Pico de Gallo

Here’s a quick and authentic recipe for Pico de Gallo — a fresh, chunky salsa that’s perfect as a dip, topping, or side. It’s simple, raw, and packed with flavor.


🍅 Pico de Gallo (Fresh Tomato Salsa)

📝 Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe Roma tomatoes, finely diced

  • 1/2 medium white onion, finely diced

  • 1–2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced (or serrano for more heat)

  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • 1–2 tbsp fresh lime juice (to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)

  • Optional: 1 small garlic clove, finely minced

  • Optional: 1/4 tsp ground cumin for a subtle earthy flavor


🥣 Instructions:

  1. Chop & combine:
    In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.

  2. Add lime & seasonings:
    Stir in lime juice and salt. Add garlic or cumin if using.

  3. Rest (optional but better):
    Let sit for 15–30 minutes to let flavors meld. Taste and adjust lime or salt as needed.

  4. Serve:
    Serve fresh with tortilla chips, over tacos, grilled meats, eggs, or rice bowls.


🌟 Tips:

  • Use Roma or any firm, less watery tomatoes for best texture.

  • Adjust jalapeños to your spice preference. Leave the seeds in for more heat.

  • Great with avocado chunks mixed in for a chunky guac hybrid.
