🥩 Perfect Hibachi Steak Recipe
🔪 Ingredients
For the steak:
-
1 lb (450 g) ribeye or sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
-
1 tbsp butter (unsalted)
-
1 tbsp sesame oil (toasted)
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
-
1 tsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
-
1 tbsp sake or mirin (optional, for extra umami)
Optional add-ins:
-
Sliced mushrooms
-
Onions or zucchini (if you want to hibachi-style stir-fry with the steak)
🔥 Instructions
-
Prep the steak:
Cut steak into bite-sized cubes and season lightly with salt and pepper. Let it sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes. -
Heat the pan or griddle:
Use a cast iron skillet or flat top grill over high heat. Add sesame oil and let it get hot until slightly smoking. -
Sear the steak:
Add steak cubes in a single layer (don’t overcrowd). Sear on all sides until browned (about 1–2 minutes per side). -
Add garlic and butter:
Lower the heat slightly. Add minced garlic and butter. Toss to coat the steak. Cook for another minute for flavor. -
Deglaze (optional):
Add soy sauce, lemon juice, and mirin/sake. Stir for 30 seconds until sauce slightly thickens and glazes the steak. -
Serve immediately:
Plate the steak hot, optionally with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or green onions.
