Oven Baked Chicken Wings

Posted on June 24, 2025
Oven-baked chicken wings are a crispy, flavorful alternative to fried wings — and way easier to make at home! Here’s a classic crispy baked chicken wing recipe and a few flavor variations.

🍗 Crispy Oven-Baked Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 lbs chicken wings (split at joints, tips removed)

  • 1 tbsp baking powder (aluminum-free)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: chili powder or cayenne for heat

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top (this helps air circulate for extra crispiness).

  2. Pat wings dry with paper towels — moisture is the enemy of crispness.

  3. Toss wings in a large bowl with baking powder and seasonings until evenly coated.

  4. Arrange wings in a single layer on the rack, skin side up.

  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden, crispy, and cooked through (internal temp: 165°F).

🍯 Flavor Options (Toss After Baking):

  • Buffalo: 1/4 cup melted butter + 1/4 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)

  • Garlic Parmesan: Melted butter + minced garlic + grated Parmesan + parsley

  • Honey BBQ: Mix BBQ sauce with a bit of honey and a splash of vinegar

  • Asian-style: Soy sauce + honey + garlic + ginger + a dash of sesame oil

🔥 Pro Tips:

  • Let the wings rest uncovered in the fridge for a few hours before baking to dry the skin (even crispier).

  • Use a wire rack — it’s a game-changer for even cooking and crisp skin.

Would you like a dipping sauce recipe to go with them? Ranch, blue cheese, or something spicy?
