MISSISSIPPI POT ROAST

Posted on June 6, 2025
Mississippi Pot Roast is a flavorful, slow-cooked beef dish that’s rich, tender, and incredibly easy to make. It uses just a handful of ingredients and is perfect for busy days or weekend comfort food. Here’s a classic version of the recipe:

🥩 Mississippi Pot Roast Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (3-4 lb) chuck roast

  • 1 packet ranch dressing mix (like Hidden Valley)

  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix

  • 5-6 pepperoncini peppers

  • 1/4 cup pepperoncini juice (optional, but adds extra tang)

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter

  • Optional: chopped onions, garlic, or carrots (for extra flavor)

Instructions:

Slow Cooker Method (Recommended):

  1. Place the roast in the bottom of a slow cooker (no need to sear).

  2. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus mix over the top of the roast.

  3. Add butter: Place the stick of butter right on top of the roast.

  4. Add pepperoncinis (and juice if using) around the roast.

  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours or until the meat is fall-apart tender.

  6. Shred the meat with two forks and mix it with the juices before serving.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Over mashed potatoes

  • With buttered egg noodles

  • In sandwiches or sliders
