Mickey Mouse Cake

Posted on May 31, 2025

Here’s how to make a Mickey Mouse Cake — fun, festive, and perfect for a birthday or Disney-themed celebration! You can keep it simple with basic shapes, or go all-out with decorating. Below is a beginner-friendly version that still has the wow factor.

🎂 Mickey Mouse Cake (Simple DIY)

🍰 Ingredients:

  • 1 box cake mix (or your favorite homemade recipe)

  • Ingredients for the cake mix (usually eggs, oil, water)

  • Buttercream or chocolate frosting (store-bought or homemade)

  • Black, red, white, and yellow fondant or food coloring (optional)

  • Round cake pans:

    • 1 x 8- or 9-inch round (for the face)

    • 2 x 4- or 5-inch rounds (for the ears — can use ramekins or cut from a sheet cake)

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Bake the Cakes:

  • Bake one large round cake and two small round cakes.

  • Let them cool completely, then level the tops if needed.

2. Assemble the Mickey Shape:

  • Place the large cake in the center of a board or platter.

  • Attach the two smaller cakes at the top sides as “ears,” trimming slightly to fit if needed.

  • Use a little frosting to “glue” the pieces together.

3. Decorate:

Option A: Frosting Version (easy & classic):
  • Frost the entire cake with chocolate frosting for a simple Mickey silhouette.

  • Optional: Use red frosting for the face and black for the ears.

  • Use white buttons (frosting dots or mini marshmallows) on the red part to mimic Mickey’s pants.

Option B: Fondant Version (clean, bold look):
  • Cover the whole cake with black fondant.

  • Use red fondant to cover just the lower half of the face.

  • Add two white fondant circles for “buttons” and small yellow fondant shapes for decorations.

🎉 Extra Touches:

  • Add a fondant bow for Minnie Mouse.

  • Write a message like “Happy Birthday [Name]!” with a piping bag or fondant letters.

  • Use cookie cutters to cut stars or Mickey shapes out of fondant for decoration.

🔄 Variations:

  • Make a cupcake version: 1 large cupcake with 2 mini cupcakes as ears.

  • Turn it into an ice cream cake or use red velvet for a surprise inside.
