Meatballs recipe

Here’s a classic meatballs recipe — juicy, flavorful, and versatile. Whether you’re serving them with pasta, in a sub, or on their own with sauce, these meatballs are a family favorite!


🍝 Classic Homemade Meatballs

Servings: 4–6 (about 18–20 meatballs)
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20–25 minutes
Total Time: ~40 minutes


✅ Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or 50/50 beef and pork)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (Italian-style or plain)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)

  • ¼ cup milk

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Optional: ½ tsp dried oregano or basil

  • Olive oil (for pan-frying)


🔪 Instructions:

1. Mix the Meatballs:

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients:
ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, milk, salt, and pepper.
Mix gently with your hands or a fork until just combined — don’t overmix.

2. Shape:

Roll into 1½-inch balls (about the size of a golf ball). You should get 18–20 meatballs.

3. Cook:

👉 Option 1: Pan-Fry
  • Heat 2–3 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Add meatballs in batches and cook, turning to brown all sides (about 7–10 minutes total).

  • Internal temp should reach 160°F (71°C).

  • Remove and set on paper towels.

👉 Option 2: Bake (less mess!)
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Place meatballs on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Bake for 18–20 minutes, until browned and cooked through.

4. Serve:

Toss with marinara sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes, or serve plain with a dipping sauce or in subs.


🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Over spaghetti with marinara

  • In hoagie rolls for meatball subs

  • With mashed potatoes or polenta

  • As a party appetizer with toothpicks and dipping sauce
