Here’s a super simple and tasty Lo Mein Recipe β€” just like takeout, but made at home in under 30 minutes!


🍜 Easy Lo Mein (Stir-Fried Noodles)

πŸ₯’ Ingredients

Noodles:

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti, ramen, or egg noodles)

Protein (optional):

  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shrimp, beef, or tofu (sliced or cubed)

Veggies:

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (or coleslaw mix)

  • 1 cup julienned carrots

  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • Β½ cup snow peas or broccoli florets

  • 2 green onions, sliced

Sauce:

  • ΒΌ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (or hoisin sauce for vegetarian option)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 tsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (or Β½ tsp ground ginger)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Optional: 1 tsp sriracha or chili garlic sauce (for heat)


πŸ”₯ Instructions

  1. Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.

  2. Mix the sauce in a small bowl: soy sauce, oyster/hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, ginger, garlic, and sriracha (if using).

  3. Stir-fry vegetables in a large skillet or wok with a bit of oil over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes, until just tender.

  4. Add cooked protein (if using) and toss to heat through.

  5. Add noodles and sauce to the pan. Toss everything together and stir-fry for 1–2 more minutes until well combined and heated through.

  6. Top with green onions or sesame seeds. Serve hot!


βœ… Tips

  • No oyster sauce? Mix a little soy sauce + sugar + a splash of Worcestershire as a sub.

  • Want it saucier? Add 2–3 tbsp water or broth while tossing everything together.

  • Make it vegetarian: Skip meat and use extra veggies + hoisin sauce instead of oyster.
