🥘 Kielbasa Cabbage Potato Skillet

Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 12 oz kielbasa sausage, sliced into ¼-inch rounds

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 medium Yukon gold or red potatoes, diced small

  • ½ head green cabbage, chopped (about 4–5 cups)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

  • 2 tbsp water or chicken broth (for steaming)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions:

  1. Cook the Kielbasa:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the sliced kielbasa.

    • Cook for 4–5 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic:

    • In the same skillet, add olive oil (or butter), then the sliced onion.

    • Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened, then add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.

  3. Add Potatoes:

    • Stir in the diced potatoes. Season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

    • Cook for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 2 tbsp of water or broth, cover the pan, and let the potatoes steam for 5–7 more minutes until fork-tender.

  4. Add Cabbage:

    • Add the chopped cabbage and red pepper flakes (if using).

    • Cook uncovered for 5–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.

  5. Combine and Finish:

    • Return the kielbasa to the skillet and mix everything together.

    • Cook another 2–3 minutes to reheat and blend flavors.

  6. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm!
