  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (use panko for a crispier texture, or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano (or Italian seasoning)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (for a subtle smoky flavor)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, such as mozzarella or cheddar for extra flavor)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Mixture

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro (if using), breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, oregano, paprika, and lemon juice.
  2. Use your hands or a spoon to mix everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the mixture to keep the patties tender.
  3. If you’re adding cheese, fold in the shredded cheese at this stage.

Step 2: Shape the Patties

  1. Divide the chicken mixture into about 6-8 equal portions, depending on how large you want your patties.
  2. Roll each portion into a ball, then gently flatten it with your hands to form a patty about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 3: Cook the Patties

  1. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
