Posted on January 17, 2025

Iowa Party Bites are a savory, bite-sized appetizer perfect for any gathering or party! These little treats are typically made with a delicious mix of creamy, cheesy filling wrapped in a savory dough. Whether you’re preparing for a holiday party or a casual get-together, these are sure to be a hit.

Here’s a simple recipe for Iowa Party Bites:

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked bacon bits (or diced ham or sausage)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent rolls (8-count)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, bacon bits (or other protein), green onions, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Stir until well combined and smooth.

3. Assemble the Party Bites:

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and separate the dough into the 8 individual triangles.
  • Place a spoonful of the creamy filling onto the wide end of each crescent triangle. Be careful not to overfill, so the dough can wrap easily.
  • Roll the dough around the filling, starting from the wide end, and pinch the edges to seal the filling inside.

4. Bake:

  • Place the filled crescents on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbly and warm.

5. Serve:

  • Remove the Iowa Party Bites from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve them warm as a delicious appetizer with a side of ranch or hot sauce if desired.

Tips:

  • Customize the Filling: You can experiment with different fillings such as spinach, sausage, or even a mix of cheeses.
  • Make Ahead: Prepare the bites in advance by assembling them and storing them in the fridge until ready to bake. Simply add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from cold.
  • Vegetarian Option: Skip the bacon and add more vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms for a veggie version.

These Iowa Party Bites are perfect for parties, potlucks, or family gatherings. They’re easy to make, packed with flavor, and sure to be devoured in no time! Enjoy!
