Homemade Yum Yum Sauce

Here’s a delicious and easy homemade Yum Yum Sauce recipe—just like the kind you get at Japanese hibachi restaurants! It’s creamy, slightly tangy, sweet, and full of umami flavor.


🍶 Homemade Yum Yum Sauce (Hibachi White Sauce)

🧄 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise (preferably Japanese Kewpie mayo, but regular works too)

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp unsalted melted butter

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or distilled white vinegar)

  • 1 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp paprika (for color and mild flavor)

  • 1–2 tbsp water (to thin it out)

  • (Optional: a pinch of cayenne or hot sauce for a kick)

🥄 Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until smooth. Start with 1 tablespoon of water and add more as needed to reach your desired consistency.

  2. Let it sit: For best flavor, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is ideal).

  3. Stir before serving.

🧊 Storage:

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

  • Keeps well for up to 7 days.
