½ teaspoon cumin
-
½ teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

🫓 Flour Tortilla Ingredients (makes ~8):
-
2 cups all-purpose flour
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
¾ cup warm water
-
3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter/lard)
🔥 Instructions
Make the Picadillo:
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until softened (3–5 minutes).
-
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
-
Stir in diced potatoes and cook for 2–3 minutes.
-
Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
-
Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are tender and the mixture thickens.
-
Optional: Stir in green olives or raisins for a sweet-savory kick.
Make the Flour Tortillas:
-
In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add warm water and oil, then stir until a dough forms.
-
Knead for 3–5 minutes until smooth. Let rest, covered, for 20 minutes.
-
Divide into 8 balls. Roll each into a thin circle.
-
Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each tortilla for ~1 minute per side or until bubbles and light golden spots appear.
-
Keep warm in a towel until serving.
🥄 To Serve:
Spoon the picadillo into warm tortillas, fold, and enjoy. You can also top with avocado, shredded cheese, or fresh cilantro.
