Here’s a simple, crispy, and healthier recipe for Homemade Air Fryer Potato Chips — all the crunch with a fraction of the oil!


🥔 Air Fryer Potato Chips

Makes 2–3 servings | Ready in ~30 minutes


Ingredients:

  • 2 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes

  • 1–2 teaspoons olive oil (or cooking spray)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional: pepper, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder, or vinegar for flavor variations


Instructions:

1. Slice the Potatoes:

  • Wash potatoes (peel if desired).

  • Using a mandoline or very sharp knife, slice paper-thin (about 1/16 inch or thinner).

  • Uniform thinness is key for even crisping.

2. Soak the Slices:

  • Place slices in a bowl of cold water for at least 15–30 minutes (removes excess starch, makes chips crispier).

  • Drain and pat completely dry with a clean towel or paper towels.

3. Preheat Air Fryer:

  • Preheat to 350°F (175°C) for 2–3 minutes.

4. Season:

  • Toss dry potato slices with olive oil (or spray lightly).

  • Season with salt and optional spices.

5. Air Fry:

  • Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do multiple batches.

  • Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 12–18 minutes, flipping or shaking the basket halfway.

  • Watch closely after 10 minutes — thin chips can burn quickly!

  • Remove once golden and crisp.

6. Cool & Serve:

  • Let chips cool on a wire rack — they crisp up even more as they cool.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container (if they last that long!).


🔄 Flavor Ideas:

  • BBQ: Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, a pinch of sugar

  • Salt & Vinegar: Toss hot chips with malt vinegar powder or spritz with vinegar

  • Spicy: Chili powder + cayenne

  • Cheesy: Add grated Parmesan right after cooking
