1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Optional: 1/4 tsp thyme or a splash of cream for richness
🔥 Instructions:
1. Make the Hamburger Steaks:
-
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Mix just until combined — don’t overwork the meat.
-
Shape into 4 oval patties.
2. Sear the Patties:
-
Heat a skillet (cast iron works great) over medium-high heat.
-
Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side, until browned.
(They don’t have to be fully cooked yet.) -
Remove and set aside.
3. Make the Onion Gravy:
-
In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions.
-
Cook on medium heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown.
-
Sprinkle in flour and stir to coat the onions.
-
Slowly pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
-
Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional thyme.
-
Simmer for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
4. Simmer Together:
-
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet.
-
Spoon gravy over them and cover.
-
Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, or until steaks are fully cooked (internal temp of 160°F/71°C).

-
Reheat in a skillet or microwave; add a splash of broth if the gravy thickens too much
