🔹 Ingredients:
For the hamburger steaks:

1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 preferred)

½ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg
-
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
For the onion gravy:
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
2 tbsp butter
-
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
Salt & pepper, to taste

Optional: ½ tsp thyme or a splash of cream for richness
🔥 Instructions:
1. Make the Hamburger Steaks:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Mix just until combined, then form into 4–5 oval patties.
2. Cook the Patties:

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil.

Sear patties for 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp: 160°F).

Remove and set aside. Drain excess grease if needed.
3. Make the Onion Gravy:

In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

Add sliced onions and cook 8–10 minutes until softened and golden.

Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir, and cook 1–2 minutes to form a roux.

Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.

Simmer 5–7 minutes, stirring often, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Combine & Serve:

Return hamburger steaks to the skillet, spoon gravy over them.

Simmer on low for 5 more minutes to meld flavors.
