Absolutely! Here’s a comforting classic: Hamburger Steak with Gravy — juicy seasoned beef patties smothered in rich, savory onion gravy. Perfect comfort food served with mashed potatoes or rice.


🍔 Hamburger Steak with Onion Gravy

Ingredients

For the Hamburger Steaks:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)

  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tbsp oil or butter (for cooking)

For the Gravy:

  • 1 medium onion, sliced

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Make the Patties:
    In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into 4 oval patties.

  2. Cook the Patties:
    Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove patties from skillet and set aside.

  3. Make the Gravy:
    In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until onions are soft and caramelized (~7-10 minutes).
    Sprinkle flour over onions and stir well to form a roux. Cook 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    Slowly whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until gravy thickens (~5 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Combine and Serve:
    Return hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Simmer 2-3 minutes to heat through.
    Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite vegetables.
