Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Ham and Cheese Sticks—perfect for an appetizer, snack, or even a fun lunch! These savory, cheesy, and ham-filled rolls are crispy on the outside and melty on the inside.

Ham and Cheese Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
  • 4 oz sliced deli ham (about 8 slices)
  • 4 oz shredded mozzarella cheese (or Swiss cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or yellow mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Garlic powder or Italian seasoning (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the Dough:

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a flat surface. If using puff pastry, roll it out into a rectangle. Pinch the seams of the crescent roll dough together so that it forms a solid sheet of dough.

3. Assemble the Ham and Cheese Sticks:

  • If you’re using mustard, spread a thin layer of mustard over the dough for added flavor (optional).
  • Lay the slices of deli ham evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese (or Swiss cheese) over the ham, leaving about 1/2 inch around the edges.

4. Roll the Dough:

  • Starting at one edge, roll the dough up tightly, making sure the ham and cheese are enclosed inside. If using puff pastry, simply fold the edges over and roll the dough up.

5. Cut the Rolls:

  • Slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces. Place each slice on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

6. Bake:

  • If desired, brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a golden, crispy finish. You can also sprinkle a little garlic powder or Italian seasoning on top for extra flavor.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the ham and cheese sticks are golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.

7. Serve:

  • Allow the ham and cheese sticks to cool slightly before serving. They’re perfect on their own or paired with a dipping sauce, such as marinara or ranch dressing.

Tips:

  • You can use different cheeses such as cheddar, provolone, or even a combination of cheeses for varied flavors.
  • For a spicier kick, add some sliced jalapeños or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
  • These can be made ahead of time and baked later. Just prepare them, refrigerate, and bake when ready.
