  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil or butter

For the mashed potatoes:

  • 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)

  • 4 tbsp butter

  • Β½ cup milk or cream (adjust for desired consistency)

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

1. Make the mashed potatoes:

  • Peel and cut potatoes into chunks.

  • Boil in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).

  • Drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth and creamy.

2. Make the ground beef & gravy:

  • In a large skillet, heat oil or butter over medium heat.

  • Add onions and cook until translucent (3–4 minutes).

  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.

  • Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through.

  • Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir well to combine; cook 1–2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.

  • Slowly pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

  • Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

  • Simmer for 5–7 minutes until gravy thickens to your liking.

3. Serve:

  • Plate mashed potatoes and top generously with ground beef and gravy.

  • Optional: garnish with chopped parsley or chives.
