Here’s a cozy, budget-friendly, and super satisfying recipe for Ground Beef and Gravy — simple ingredients, hearty flavor, and ready in 30 minutes. Perfect served over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.


🍽️ Ground Beef and Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (85–90% lean works best)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef broth (low sodium if preferred)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Optional: 1 tbsp butter (for extra richness)

  • Optional: ½ cup frozen peas or mushrooms for added veggies


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Brown the beef:

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and onions together until beef is browned and onions are soft (about 7–8 minutes).

  • Drain excess grease if needed.

2. Add garlic & flour:

  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

  • Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir well to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes (this helps thicken the gravy later).

3. Add liquids & seasoning:

  • Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.

  • Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Optional: stir in butter for extra flavor.

4. Simmer:

  • Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes, or until gravy thickens to your liking.

  • Stir occasionally. Add peas or mushrooms here if using.

5. Serve:

  • Spoon over mashed potatoes, white rice, egg noodles, or biscuits.

  • Top with fresh parsley or black pepper for garnish if desired.


📝 Tips:

  • Want creamier gravy? Add ¼ cup of heavy cream or a spoonful of sour cream at the end.

  • For a Southern-style twist, serve over grits or cornbread.
