Grandma’s Timeless Peach Cobbler

Posted on June 5, 2025

Here’s a classic recipe for Grandma’s Timeless Peach Cobbler—warm, comforting, and perfect for any occasion:

🍑 Grandma’s Timeless Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:

For the Peach Filling:

  • 6–8 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or 2 cans of sliced peaches, drained)

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (only if using fresh peaches)

For the Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 cup milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the peaches:

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine peaches, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, lemon juice, and cornstarch (if using fresh peaches).

    • Simmer for about 5–10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Set aside.

  3. Melt the butter:

    • Place the stick of butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • Put the dish in the preheating oven until the butter is fully melted, then remove it.

  4. Make the batter:

    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    • Stir in milk and vanilla extract until just combined.

  5. Assemble the cobbler:

    • Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter (do not stir).

    • Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter (again, do not stir—this helps create the layered effect).

  6. Bake:

    • Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean from the batter part.

  7. Cool and serve:

    • Let cool slightly. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

💡 Tips:

  • If peaches aren’t in season, canned or frozen (thawed and drained) peaches work just fine.

  • Want a crispier top? Sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking.

  • This cobbler is even better the next day!
