Here’s a delicious, easy-to-make recipe for Garlic Steak & Potato Foil Packets — tender steak bites, crispy potatoes, and a garlicky herb butter all cooked together in one convenient foil wrap. Perfect for the oven, grill, or campfire!


🥩 Garlic Steak & Potato Foil Packets

⭐ Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 1½ lbs (680 g) sirloin steak, cut into 1½-inch cubes

  • 1 lb (450 g) baby potatoes, halved or quartered

  • 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried rosemary/thyme

  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

  • Fresh parsley or chopped chives, for garnish

  • Foil sheets (heavy-duty or double layer)


🔪 Instructions:

1. Preheat

  • Grill: Preheat to medium-high (~400°F / 200°C).

  • Oven: Preheat to 425°F (220°C).

2. Prepare the Steak & Potatoes

  • In a large bowl, toss together:

    • Steak cubes

    • Potatoes

    • Olive oil or melted butter

    • Garlic, herbs, paprika, salt, and pepper

  • Mix well to coat evenly.

3. Assemble the Packets

  • Lay out 4 large pieces of foil (about 12×18 inches each).

  • Divide the steak and potato mixture evenly between them.

  • Fold foil over the mixture and crimp the edges tightly to seal into packets.

4. Cook

  • Grill: Place packets on the grill and cook for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • Oven: Bake on a sheet pan for 20–25 minutes, until steak is cooked to your liking and potatoes are fork-tender.

  • Campfire: Place on hot coals and cook for 15–20 minutes, flipping once.

5. Serve

  • Carefully open foil packets (watch out for steam!).

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or chives.

  • Optional: Add a drizzle of garlic butter or sprinkle of Parmesan for extra richness.


🔁 Optional Add-Ins:

  • Vegetables: Bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, or green beans

  • Heat: Add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce

  • Cheesy Version: Add shredded cheese during the last 5 minutes
