Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes

Posted on May 31, 2025

You’re about to make a hearty and comforting favorite: Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes — a one-pan (or skillet) meal with juicy seared steak bites and crispy potatoes all tossed in rich, garlicky butter. It’s easy, fast, and bursting with flavor!

🥩 Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes

Ingredients (Serves 2–4):

🥔 For the Potatoes:

  • 1 lb baby potatoes or Yukon golds, halved or quartered

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Optional: smoked paprika, rosemary, or thyme

🥩 For the Steak:

  • 1 to 1½ lbs sirloin, ribeye, or NY strip, cut into bite-sized cubes

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil (for searing)

🧄 Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 3–4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (fresh)

  • Optional: splash of lemon juice or a pinch of chili flakes

🔧 Instructions:

1. Cook the Potatoes:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil and potatoes.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional paprika/herbs.

  • Cook covered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and fork-tender.

  • Transfer to a plate and set aside.

2. Sear the Steak:

  • Season steak bites with salt and pepper.

  • Add a little more oil to the same skillet and raise heat to medium-high.

  • Sear steak for 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still juicy (don’t overcrowd the pan).

  • Remove and set aside (leave the juices!).

3. Make Garlic Butter:

  • Lower heat to medium.

  • Add butter and garlic to the pan. Sauté 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Return steak and potatoes to the pan. Toss everything together to coat in the garlic butter.

4. Finish & Serve:

  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon if using.

  • Serve immediately with crusty bread or a side salad.

🧠 Tips:

  • Rest steak before serving for max juiciness.

  • Want extra richness? Add a spoon of cream or grated Parmesan at the end.

  • Use ghee or clarified butter for higher heat tolerance if needed.
