  • 2 cups cooked gammon or ham, finely chopped or shredded

  • 1/2 cup celery, finely diced

  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced (or spring onion)

  • 1/4 cup dill pickles or gherkins, chopped (optional)

  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped (optional but traditional in some versions)

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)

Dressing:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp Dijon or English mustard

  • 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • Pinch of paprika (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Salad Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, mix the chopped ham, celery, onion, pickles, eggs, and herbs.

  2. Make Dressing:

    • In a separate bowl, stir together mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  3. Mix Everything:

    • Add the dressing to the ham mixture and stir until evenly coated.

  4. Chill:

    • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let flavors blend.

Ways to Serve:

  • On a bed of lettuce or mixed greens

  • As a sandwich or wrap filling

  • With crackers or crusty bread

  • Stuffed into tomatoes or avocados

  • With boiled potatoes for a hearty salad

💡 Tips & Variations:

  • Add grated cheese (like cheddar) for richness.

  • Use Greek yogurt in place of some mayo for a lighter version.

  • For a sweeter twist, add a spoon of relish or a touch of honey.
