  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old or chilled)

  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable, sesame, or canola)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, etc.)

  • 2 eggs (optional)

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (more to taste)

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for depth)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional for aroma)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Green onions or sesame seeds for garnish

1. Cook Ground Beef

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

  • Add ground beef and cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spoon.

  • Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  • Drain excess fat if needed, then push beef to the side of the pan.

2. Cook Veggies & Aromatics

  • Add another 1 tbsp oil.

  • SautΓ© onion and garlic for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

  • Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes until heated through.

3. Add Eggs (Optional)

  • Push everything to one side.

  • Crack in the eggs and scramble them quickly.

  • Mix them into the rest of the ingredients once cooked.

4. Stir in Rice

  • Add cooked rice to the pan.

  • Use a spatula to break up clumps and mix thoroughly with the meat and veggies.

  • Increase heat slightly to help toast the rice a bit.

5. Season

  • Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil.

  • Stir well until everything is evenly coated and heated through.

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

6. Finish and Serve

  • Garnish with chopped green onions and/or sesame seeds.

  • Serve hot with optional sriracha or chili oil on the side.

  • Use cold rice: It prevents soggy or mushy texture.

  • Ground turkey or pork can be used instead of beef.

  • Add chopped kimchi, chili paste, or hoisin sauce for a twist.
