French fries

Posted on June 4, 2025
Absolutely! Here’s a classic, crispy French Fries recipe — golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside. You can make them in a deep fryer, oven, or air fryer. I’ll include all three methods for you!

🍟 French Fries Recipe (3 Ways)

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 3–4 large russet potatoes (or other starchy potatoes)

  • Cold water (for soaking)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Optional: paprika, garlic powder, or other seasonings

  • Cooking oil (for frying or brushing)

🔪 Step-by-Step (All Methods):

1. Peel & Cut

  • Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into thin sticks — about ¼-inch thick.

  • Try to make them as even as possible for uniform cooking.

2. Soak in Cold Water

  • Place cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the fridge).

  • This removes excess starch and makes them crispier.

3. Dry Thoroughly

  • Drain and pat dry completely with a clean towel. Moisture = soggy fries.

🔥 Cooking Methods:

🍳 1. Deep Fryer / Stove Top (Classic Method)

Two-step fry method (for ultra crisp):

  1. First fry (blanch):
Heat oil to 325°F (160°C). Fry in batches for 4–5 min, just until softened (not browned). Drain.

  2. Second fry (crisp):
Increase oil temp to 375°F (190°C). Fry again for 2–3 min until golden and crispy.

  3. Drain & season with salt immediately.

🌬️ 2. Air Fryer Method

  1. Toss dried fries with 1–2 tsp of oil and a pinch of salt.

  2. Air fry at 190°C / 375°F for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway through.

  3. For extra crispness: add 2 more minutes at the end at 200°C / 400°F.

🔥 3. Oven-Baked Method

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C / 425°F.

  2. Toss fries with 2–3 tbsp oil, salt, and optional spices.

  3. Spread on a baking sheet in a single layer (use parchment for easy cleanup).

  4. Bake for 25–35 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.

🧂 Flavor Boost Ideas:

  • Truffle oil + Parmesan

  • Cajun seasoning

  • Garlic & rosemary

  • Cheese sauce or gravy (poutine-style)
