French fries

Here’s a crispy, golden French fries recipe — perfect whether you’re frying, baking, or using an air fryer. I’ll give you all three methods!


🍟 Classic French Fries Recipe

🥔 Ingredients:

  • 2–3 large russet potatoes

  • Vegetable oil (for frying or brushing)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, parmesan, herbs


🔪 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Peel and Cut

  • Peel potatoes (or leave skin on for rustic fries).

  • Cut into thin sticks — about ¼ inch thick for classic fries.

2. Soak the Fries

  • Soak cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to 1 hour (or overnight in the fridge).

  • This removes excess starch and helps them crisp up.

  • Drain and pat completely dry with towels.


🍳 METHOD 1: Deep Fry (Classic Style)

Step 1 – First Fry (Blanch)

  • Heat oil to 325°F (163°C).

  • Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes, just until soft but not browned.

  • Drain on paper towels.

Step 2 – Second Fry (Crisping)

  • Increase oil to 375°F (190°C).

  • Fry again for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  • Drain, salt immediately, and serve hot.


🧺 METHOD 2: Air Fryer

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Toss dried fries with 1–2 tsp oil.

  3. Cook in a single layer (in batches if needed) for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway through.

  4. Salt and serve!


🔥 METHOD 3: Baked Fries

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Toss dried fries in 2–3 tbsp oil, salt, and optional seasonings.

  3. Spread on a baking sheet in a single layer.

  4. Bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping once halfway, until golden and crisp.


🍔 Optional Seasoning Ideas:

  • Garlic Parmesan: Toss with garlic powder + grated parmesan

  • Spicy Cajun: Add paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder

  • Truffle fries: Drizzle with truffle oil + parsley after cooking
