Posted on June 27, 2025
Golden, crispy, and perfectly salted—French fries are a universal favorite! Here’s a classic French fries recipe you can make at home, with both deep-fried and air fryer/oven methods:

🍟 Classic French Fries Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 large russet potatoes (best for crispiness)

  • Vegetable oil (for frying or coating)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, parmesan, fresh herbs

🔥 Deep-Fried Method:

1. Prep Potatoes:

  • Peel (optional) and cut into even sticks, about ¼ inch thick.

  • Soak in cold water for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight) to remove excess starch.

  • Drain and pat dry very well with a towel.

2. First Fry (Blanch):

  • Heat oil to 325°F (160°C).

  • Fry in batches for 3–4 minutes until soft but not browned.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

3. Second Fry (Crisp):

  • Increase oil temp to 375°F (190°C).

  • Fry again for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.

  • Drain and season with salt immediately.

💨 Air Fryer Method:

  1. Follow same prep (cut, soak, dry).

  2. Toss with 1–2 tsp oil and season lightly.

  3. Air fry at 380°F (193°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking every 5 minutes, until crispy and golden.

🔥 Oven Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Toss dried fries with oil and seasonings.

  3. Spread in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  4. Bake for 30–40 minutes, flipping halfway, until crisp and golden.

🧂 Topping Ideas:

  • Truffle oil + Parmesan

  • Cajun seasoning

  • Fresh garlic + parsley

  • Chili cheese

  • Malt vinegar (UK-style)
