Absolutely! Here’s a recipe for soft, fluffy potato rolls — tender on the inside with a slightly golden crust. The mashed potatoes add moisture and softness, making these rolls melt-in-your-mouth good. Perfect for dinner, sliders, or even as a breakfast bun.


🥔🍞 Fluffy Potato Rolls

🛒 Ingredients (makes 12 rolls):

  • 1 cup mashed potatoes (plain, no butter or milk)

  • 3½ cups (420g) all-purpose flour (plus more for kneading)

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¼ cup (50g) sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ cup (120 ml) milk, warm (not hot)

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) water, warm

  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 large egg


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Activate the yeast:

  • In a small bowl, mix warm water, a pinch of sugar, and yeast.

  • Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Mix the dough:

  • In a large bowl (or mixer), combine mashed potatoes, milk, sugar, butter, egg, and salt.

  • Add in the foamy yeast mixture.

  • Gradually stir in the flour, about ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.

3. Knead:

  • Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes (or 5 minutes in a mixer with a dough hook), until smooth and elastic.

  • Dough will be soft but should not stick badly to your hands.

4. First rise:

  • Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap.

  • Let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1–1½ hours.

5. Shape the rolls:

  • Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.

  • Shape into smooth balls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish or on a lined baking tray (slightly spaced apart).

6. Second rise:

  • Cover loosely and let rise again until puffy, about 30–45 minutes.

7. Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, until golden brown on top.

  • Optional: Brush hot rolls with melted butter for extra softness and shine.
