DR. PEPPER BBQ SLOPPY JOES RECIPES

Here’s a fun and delicious recipe for Dr. Pepper BBQ Sloppy Joes that combines the sweet, tangy flavor of Dr. Pepper with a savory BBQ sauce. This will definitely be a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey if you prefer)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (12 oz) Dr. Pepper (regular or diet)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Butter (for toasting the buns, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the beef and onions:
    • In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up into small pieces, until browned and fully cooked (about 6-8 minutes). Drain any excess grease.
    • Add the chopped onion and cook for another 3-4 minutes, until softened.
  2. Make the Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce:
    • Stir in the Dr. Pepper, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix everything together well.
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
  3. Toast the buns (optional):
    • While the sloppy joe mixture is simmering, butter the hamburger buns and toast them in a pan or on a griddle until golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
    • Spoon the Dr. Pepper BBQ mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

These Dr. Pepper BBQ Sloppy Joes are sweet, tangy, and full of flavor! You can serve them with some crispy fries, coleslaw, or pickles on the side for an extra touch.
