🍚 Dirty Rice with Ground Beef
Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

2 celery stalks, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1½ cups long-grain white rice, uncooked

3 cups beef broth or water

1 tsp paprika
-
1 tsp dried thyme
-
½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 tsp salt, or to taste

½ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp oil or butter
Optional Add-ins:

½ lb ground sausage or chicken livers, chopped (for traditional flavor)

Green onions or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Cook the meat:

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat.

Add ground beef (and sausage or liver if using) and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

Sauté vegetables:

Add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic.

Cook 5–7 minutes until vegetables are soft and fragrant.

Add rice & seasonings:

Stir in uncooked rice, paprika, thyme, cayenne, salt, and pepper.

Toast the rice for 1–2 minutes with the meat and veggies.

Simmer:

Pour in broth or water. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

Fluff & serve:

Let sit off heat for 5 minutes.

Fluff with a fork and garnish with chopped green onions or parsley.

For extra depth, use half beef broth and half chicken broth.
