Posted on March 28, 2025
Chicken Qeema Patties are a flavorful, spicy, and satisfying treat! They’re made with minced chicken (qeema), aromatic spices, and herbs, then shaped into patties and fried to golden perfection. These patties are perfect as a snack, appetizer, or even as a main dish when paired with a side.

Here’s a Delicious Chicken Qeema Patties recipe:

Chicken Qeema Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Qeema (Minced Chicken) Filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground chicken (or minced chicken)

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated or finely chopped

  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp ground coriander

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (coriander leaves)

  • 1/4 cup frozen peas (optional, but adds nice texture)

  • 1 tbsp oil (for cooking)

For the Patties:

  • 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed (helps bind the patties and adds softness)

  • 1 large egg (for binding)

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or more if needed)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Filling:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until softened and golden brown (about 5 minutes).

    • Add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.

    • Add the ground chicken to the pan. Break it up with a spoon and cook for 7-8 minutes, until the chicken is browned and fully cooked.

    • Stir in the turmeric, red chili powder, ground coriander, cumin, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

    • Add the peas and cook for an additional 2 minutes. If the mixture feels too dry, you can add a tablespoon of water.

    • Once the filling is cooked, remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.

    • Stir in the fresh chopped cilantro.

  2. Prepare the Patties:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled chicken qeema mixture with the mashed potatoes. The potatoes help to bind the filling and give the patties a soft texture.

    • Add the egg and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until everything is well incorporated. If the mixture feels too soft, add more breadcrumbs until it holds its shape.

    • Shape the mixture into small round or oval patties, pressing lightly to flatten them out.

  3. Fry the Patties:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the pan, making sure not to overcrowd them. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crispy.

    • Remove from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve the chicken qeema patties hot with a side of green chutney, tamarind sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • For Extra Crispiness: After shaping the patties, you can dip them in beaten egg and coat them with breadcrumbs before frying.

  • Make it Spicier: Add more green chilies or chili powder to adjust the heat level according to your taste.

  • Baking Option: If you want to make them healthier, you can bake the patties at 375°F (190°C) for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • Storage: These patties freeze well! Once fried, let them cool completely and freeze in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven or on a skillet.

These Chicken Qeema Patties are perfect for serving at a party, as a light meal, or even as a snack with tea. They’re packed with flavor and have a great balance of spices and textures. Enjoy!

Do you think you’d like to try making these, or would you adjust the recipe in any way?
