Crockpot Chicken & Gravy

Crockpot Chicken & Gravy is a super easy, comforting dish that requires minimal prep and lets the slow cooker do all the work! Tender chicken in a rich, flavorful gravy—serve it over mashed potatoes, rice, or with a side of veggies for a hearty meal.

Crockpot Chicken & Gravy

Ingredients (Serves 4-6):

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs if you prefer)
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet (1 oz) brown gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or use homemade)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or water)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Place the chicken breasts (or thighs) in the bottom of your crockpot. You don’t need to brown the chicken beforehand; just add it raw.
  2. Mix the Gravy:
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the ranch seasoning mix, brown gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth (or water), and garlic powder (if using). Stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Pour Over Chicken:
    • Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken in the crockpot, making sure the chicken is well coated.
  4. Cook:
    • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shreds with a fork. The gravy will thicken as it cooks, making a delicious sauce.
  5. Shred the Chicken (Optional):
    • Once the chicken is done, you can leave it as whole pieces or shred it using two forks for a more “pulled chicken” style. If you choose to shred it, return the shredded chicken to the gravy and stir to combine.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or even pasta. It also pairs great with a side of veggies like steamed broccoli or green beans.

Tips:

  • For Extra Flavor: You can add a little bit of onion powder or even a dash of Worcestershire sauce for an extra depth of flavor.
  • Make it Lighter: Use low-sodium broth and a lighter version of the cream of chicken soup for a healthier take.
  • Make it Creamier: Add a splash of heavy cream or sour cream toward the end of cooking if you want a creamier, richer gravy.
