Creamy Tuna Pasta Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni or rotini pasta (or any pasta shape you prefer)
  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water or oil, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried dill (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup sweet pickles, chopped (or relish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and rinse the pasta under cold water to cool it down quickly. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Dressing:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried dill (if using). Stir until the dressing is smooth and creamy.
  3. Combine the Salad:
    • Add the cooled pasta, flaked tuna, chopped celery, red onion, and sweet pickles (or relish) to the bowl with the dressing. Gently stir everything together until well combined.
  4. Season:
    • Taste the salad and add salt and pepper as needed. If you like a little extra tang, you can add a bit more lemon juice or Dijon mustard.
  5. Chill:
    • For the best flavor, cover the pasta salad and refrigerate it for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. You can also prepare it ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for a day or two.
  6. Serve:
    • Once chilled, give it a good stir, garnish with fresh parsley (optional), and serve. Enjoy!

Optional Add-ins:

  • Hard-boiled eggs: Chop up some hard-boiled eggs for added protein and richness.
  • Peas: Add frozen or canned peas for a burst of color and flavor.
  • Cheese: Try adding shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or crumbled feta for a cheesy twist.

This Creamy Tuna Pasta Salad is refreshing, easy to make, and full of comforting flavors—perfect for any occasion! Enjoy!
