Here’s a light and refreshing Creamy Lemon Mousse recipe that’s perfect for a sweet treat any time!

Creamy Lemon Mousse Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest (from about 1 lemon)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Whip the Cream:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip it—set aside.
  2. Prepare the Lemon Cream Cheese Mixture:
    • In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sour cream, lemon juice, lemon zest, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and creamy. You can use a hand mixer or stand mixer for this.
  3. Fold in the Whipped Cream:
    • Gently fold the whipped cream into the lemon-cream cheese mixture using a spatula. Fold carefully to keep the mousse light and airy.
  4. Chill:
    • Spoon the mousse into serving dishes or glasses and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set. For best results, let it chill for about 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Serve:
    • Once chilled and set, garnish with additional lemon zest, whipped cream, or fresh berries for an extra touch of flavor and color.

Optional Variations:

  • Berry Topping: Add fresh berries such as raspberries or strawberries for a fruity contrast.
  • Graham Cracker Crust: For a more dessert-like experience, serve the mousse over a graham cracker crust, similar to a lemon pie!
