Chocolate chip cookies

Posted on September 19, 2025

Here’s a classic Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe — crisp on the edges, soft and chewy in the center, packed with melty chocolate chips. Simple, reliable, and always a hit!

🍪 Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

📝 Ingredients (Makes ~24 cookies)

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or chunks)

  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

  • Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  • Stir in vanilla.

3. Add Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.

4. Add the Chocolate Chips

  • Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).

5. Scoop & Bake

  • Drop rounded tablespoons or use a cookie scoop to place dough on prepared sheets, 2 inches apart.

  • Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers are still soft.

  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

🍫 Tips for Perfect Cookies

  • Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.

  • Use room temperature butter — not melted, not cold.

  • Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet touch.

  • Underbake slightly if you like soft centers — they’ll firm up as they cool.
