Chocolate cake

Sure thing! Here’s a simple, moist chocolate cake recipe that’s perfect for any occasion. It’s rich, tender, and easy to make!

Classic Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for extra moisture)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water (or hot coffee for a deeper flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans (or one 9×13-inch pan, if you prefer a sheet cake).
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add wet ingredients: Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix everything together using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes. The batter will be thick.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water: Gradually add the boiling water (or hot coffee) to the batter. It will thin out the batter significantly, but that’s okay! Stir until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes (for round pans), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If you’re using a 9×13-inch pan, it may take around 40-45 minutes.
  6. Cool: Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Frost and enjoy: Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite frosting. Classic chocolate buttercream, cream cheese frosting, or even a simple dusting of powdered sugar would work wonderfully.
