Ingredients (2–3 servings):

  • 500g (1 lb) prawns or shrimp, peeled & deveined

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2–3 red chilies, finely chopped (or 1 tsp chili flakes for milder heat)

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for richness)

  • 1 tbsp sweet chili sauce (or 1 tsp honey for a touch of sweetness)

  • 1 tbsp lime or lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Fresh cilantro or scallions, for garnish


👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Prep the prawns:

    • Pat dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. Set aside.

  2. Make the sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sweet chili sauce, lime juice, and a splash of water. Set aside.

  3. Cook garlic & chili:

    • Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Add garlic and chopped chilies. Sauté for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant (but not burnt).

  4. Add prawns:

    • Toss in the prawns and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and are just cooked through.

  5. Add sauce & finish:

    • Pour in the sauce mixture. Stir and let it sizzle for another 1–2 minutes, allowing it to slightly reduce and coat the prawns.

    • Drizzle with sesame oil at the end (optional).

  6. Garnish & serve:

    • Sprinkle with chopped cilantro or green onions.

    • Serve hot over rice, noodles, or as-is with lime wedges.


🔥 Tips:

  • Want extra heat? Add Sriracha, gochujang, or a pinch of cayenne.

  • Try this with tofu, scallops, or chicken strips for variation.

  • Make it saucier by adding a splash of coconut milk for a creamy twist.
