‘’Chicken stir-fried with onions’

Here’s a simple and flavorful dish: Chicken Stir-Fried with Onions. It’s quick, delicious, and pairs beautifully with rice or noodles. The onions caramelize slightly, adding natural sweetness to the savory, juicy chicken.


🍗 Chicken Stir-Fried with Onions

🍽️ Serves: 2–3 | ⏱️ Ready in 20 minutes


🧾 Ingredients:

  • 300–400 g (10–14 oz) boneless chicken (thigh or breast), thinly sliced

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable, peanut, or sesame)

  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for umami)

  • 1 tsp sugar (or honey)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for velveting)

  • 1 tbsp water

  • Optional: green onions, sesame seeds, chili flakes


🔥 Instructions:

  1. Marinate chicken (optional for tenderness):

    • Mix chicken with ½ tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, and a splash of water. Let sit for 10 minutes.

  2. Sear the chicken:

    • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Add chicken and stir-fry until browned and just cooked through (4–5 minutes). Remove and set aside.

  3. Cook onions:

    • Add another tbsp oil. Stir-fry sliced onion until softened and lightly browned (3–4 minutes).

    • Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  4. Combine and season:

    • Return chicken to the pan. Add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sugar, pepper, and a splash of water.

    • Stir well to coat everything in the sauce and cook another 1–2 minutes.

  5. Serve hot:

    • Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

    • Serve over steamed rice or noodles.


✅ Tips:

  • Use high heat for best stir-fry results.

  • Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or snow peas for extra veggies.

  • Swap chicken for tofu, beef, or shrimp if preferred.
