Here’s a creamy, comforting, and easy-to-make Chicken and Sour Cream Casserole recipe that’s perfect for weeknights or potlucks. Think tender chicken, a creamy tangy sauce, and a golden crispy topping — pure comfort food.

📝 Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)

  • 1 sleeve (about 30) buttery crackers (like Ritz), crushed

  • 1/4 cup (half a stick) butter, melted

  • Optional: chopped parsley or green onions for garnish


🔥 Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Mix the Base

  • In a large bowl, mix the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and shredded cheese (if using).

3. Assemble

  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.

4. Add the Topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine crushed crackers and melted butter.

  • Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the casserole.

5. Bake

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until hot and bubbly and the topping is golden brown.

6. Serve

  • Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with parsley or green onions if desired.
