Posted on July 25, 2025
Here’s a savory and comforting recipe for Cheesy Mushroom Beef — a hearty dish featuring seasoned ground beef, sautéed mushrooms, and melted cheese. It’s perfect served over rice, mashed potatoes, pasta, or even tucked into a hoagie roll.

🧀 Cheesy Mushroom Beef

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (white or cremini work well)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional but adds depth)

  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, or a mix)

  • 1 tbsp flour or cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the beef:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through.

    • Drain excess grease and set the beef aside.

  2. Sauté the veggies:

    • In the same skillet, add olive oil or butter.

    • Sauté the diced onions and mushrooms until softened and lightly browned (about 5–7 minutes).

    • Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

  3. Combine and simmer:

    • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the mushroom mixture.

    • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, salt, and pepper.

    • (Optional) Sprinkle flour or mix in a slurry of cornstarch and water to slightly thicken the sauce.

    • Simmer for 3–5 minutes until well combined and warmed through.

  4. Add cheese:

    • Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the beef mixture.

    • Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt (about 2–3 minutes).

    • Once melted, gently stir if desired or serve with the cheese on top.

  5. Serve hot:

    • Great over rice, mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or in toasted rolls as a cheesy beef sandwich.

🍄 Variations & Add-ins:

  • Add a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese for a creamy version.

  • Toss in spinach or zucchini for added veggies.

  • Spice it up with chili flakes or pepper jack cheese.
